Priorities

Every student deserves to achieve academic success.

We need a school board member that will work to ensure equitable solutions across APS, and raise achievement regardless of where you live in Arlington. My children attended early intervention programs across 5 elementary schools, and we have witnessed firsthand how each school operates inconsistently in their processes of Special Education.  So, if you have heard the saying that “Arlington is a District of Schools, not a School District”, from experience the claim rings true, and I am wholeheartedly committed to changing this.

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

INCLUSIVITY & STUDENT SAFETY

Every student has the right to feel safe and included at school.

You deserve a school board member that understands and takes action to address parent and student concerns around inclusion, mental health, drug use, and student safety at school. I am a candidate that has been fighting for inclusivity for years, and cares deeply about the drug and mental health issues present in our schools. Last year, I made it a goal of mine to help educate parents on these issues, and did so by helping the Parent Resource Center develop a training program regarding drug use and neurodiverse students.

RESOURCING & SUPPORTING OUR TEACHERS

Every teacher deserves to feel heard, supported, and appreciated.

Our teachers are the beating heart of APS. Our school board needs a candidate that will work to retain and reward our best teachers, paying them for both their experience and performance. We must guarantee that our Teachers’ voices are the loudest in the room, and provide them with the resources necessary to let their talents flourish. I have vast experience collaborating with our teachers and administrations, working as a leader in Arlington’s Special Education Parent-Teacher Association (SEPTA) to share best practices across APS so that everyone can benefit. I firmly believe that paying and retaining our best teachers is vital to APS.

OPERATIONAL EFFICACY & LONG-TERM PLANNING

Our community wants a high-quality school system that is operationally effective and sustainable.

You deserve a candidate that prioritizes student instruction while developing long-term plans, ensuring that there is sufficient seating relative to our growing student population. My professional experience as an internal auditor with Gap Inc. focuses on compliance and operational auditing, reviewing end-to-end organizational planning and execution. I plan to use the skills gained in my work experience to perform better system-wide planning, asking the right questions around priorities and budget to help our staff assess the best path towards improved student outcomes across APS.
